FARCOTILE AK5-AK2

Application

• For fixing ceramic, tile and stone tiles on stone and old tiles, cement and gypsum board and concrete substrates.
• Walls of bathrooms and showers, kitchens, Hospital rooms and staircases.

• When hardened it has good flexibility, excellent bonding strength and can withstand the limited vibrations and deformations of building substrates.

Consumption

2 to 4 kg per m2 depending on Substrate condition.

Method of Preparation and installation

Surface preparation

• The substrate must be stable, dry, cleaned of dust, grease, oil, etc
• Prior to application, repair the defects and level the uneven substrates with polymer modified mortars.
• For better bonding of adhesive to the old tiled substrates, remove the glaze moderately.

Mixing

• AK5 and AK2 are ready – for – use – Do not use thinner.

Applying the Adhesive

• AK5-AK2 are applied to the substrate with a notched trowel. Choose a trowel that gives maximum coverage of adhesive at the back of the tile.
• If the thickness of the applied adhesive be too high, it results in slip of the tile in setting and drying of adhesive.
• At normal temperature and humidity condition the open time of adhesive is between 20 to 25 minutes.
• Re-trowel the surface if the adhesive form skin.
• Do not work at temperature below +5°c
• The stiff and non workable adhesive has low wetting capability and do not have enough coverage at the back of the tile.
• It is not formulated for water immersion services, for this application BK1 in combination with (SA12 or SA46), BK2 or BK2F is recommended.

• At cold condition and/or walls that the height is too high, install with at least one interval (Min 6 hours).
• For highly absorbent substrates, wet the surface with clean water; in addition dip the dusty or highly absorbent tiles in clean water prior to installation.

Fixing

The tiles should be fixed by pressing them in the desired position.

Grouting

Grout the joints 1 to 3 days after setting of the adhesive.
