Product Description
- FARSIZAL AIR is water soluble, chloride free air entraining admixture it is to create stable microscopic air bubble through the concrete and mortar mixture.
- FARSIZAL AIR increases the resistance, of concrete to freeze– thaw cycles scaling improving workability and reducing bleeding.
Standard Compliance
FARSIZAL AIR complies with:
- EN 934-2-Table 5
- ISIRI 2930- Table 6
General Properties
Anionic | Ionic nature |
Yellow liquid | Appearance |
8.5±1 | PH |
1.05± 0.02 | Specific gravity |
<500 PPM | Chlorides content (PPM) |
Application
FARSIZAL AIR is recommended for all concretes exposed to cyclic freezing and thawing like:
- Light weight concrete
- Mass concrete
- Paving concrete
- Ready-mix concrete
- Structural concrete
- FARSIZAL AIR is suitable for all types of cement
Advantages
- Provides a stable air void system with proper bubble size and spacing. The air void system protects concrete against damage caused by repeated freeze/ thaw cycles.
- The air bubbles act as “Ball – Bearings” to greatly improve the plasticity and work ability of the concrete, making it easier to flow in to forms or be pumped in to place
- Less mixing water can be used
- Minimize bleeding and segregation
- FARSIZAL AIR aids in finishing and produces more watertight concrete with a lower water-cement ratio
- Increased resistance to scaling from deicing salts
- Makes concrete more durable
Method of Use
- FARSIZAL AIR is supplied ready for use and is completely miscible in water
- It can be added in to the mixer at the same time as the mixing water
- It should not be added directly to the cement or dry materials
- FARSIZAL AIR may be added at the end of mixing process by dispensing equipment or it may also be added to the concrete in a drum of ready mix truck, it should be mixed at least 1 minute per m³ of concrete at high speed
Dosage
- FARSIZAL AIR is normally dosed at a rate of 40 to 80gr per 100kg of cement and will generally entrain 3 to 6% air in concrete.
- Higher dosages may be utilized for special conditions and applications.
- Field-testing is recommended to determine the optimum dosage and effect on both plastic and hardened concrete properties such as: workability and workability retention, setting time, early and ultimate strength.
Factors influencing amount of entrained air and dosage rate
The amount of FARSIZAL AIR required to obtain a given air content will very widely depending on:
- Particle shape and grading of organic the aggregate used.
- Impurities in the aggregate and hardness of water.
- Fineness of cement
- Amount of alkali in cement.
Effect of materials and proportions on air content
Guidance | Effect | Material |
Increase FARSIZAL AIR dosage rate | Decrease in air content with increase in cement | Cement content |
Adjacent FARSIZAL AIR | Air content increases with increased fineness of cement | Fineness of cement |
Adjacent FARSIZAL AIR | Air content increases with increase in cement alkali content | Alkali content |
Reduce dosage of FARSIZAL AIR | Air content increases with increase in dosage of lignin – based materials | Water reducers |
Effects of material and construction variable on air content
Guidance | Effect | Variable |
Run mixer close full, Avoid over loading | Air increases as capacity approached | Mixer capacity |
Increase air-entraining dosage rate as temperature increases | Air content decreases with temperature increase | Temperature |
Keep the pumping pressure as low as possible | Reduction in air content 1 to 2% | Pumping |
Do not over vibrate avoid high- frequency vibrators
(>10.000 vpm) |
Air content decreases under prolonged vibration or at high frequencies | Internal vibration |
Technical Advice
Following reduction of strength because of entrained air bubbles, it is recommended to use compatible water reduces in order to reduce the W/CM ratio.
Compatibility
With Cements
FARSIZAL AIR is suitable for use with cement replacement materials e.g. Fly ash, silica fume and blast furnace slag cement concrete.
With other Admixtures
FARSIZAL AIR should not be premixed or used with other admixtures unless receive the approval from manufacturer.
We would recommend that SHIMISAKHTEMAN be consulted in such circumstances.
Packaging
FARSIZAL AIR is supplied in 20kg gallons and 250kg drums.
Storage
FARSIZAL AIR Storage is recommended to keep within the range of 5°c to 40°c. If product has frozen, thaw and agitate until completely reconstituted.
Keep out of direct sunlight.
Shelf life
12 month when FARSIZAL AIR is kept under the recommended conditions and stored in unopened and undamaged original sealed containers.
Safety and Handling Precautions
FARSIZAL AIR is a low- hazard substance, it does not irritate skin and retina under normal conditions.
But in the line with general handling precautions to avoid contact with skin or eyes, protective gloves and goggles should be worn. .
