Application
Uses
- Fairing of exposed concrete or masonry surfaces
- Fairing of concrete or masonry surfaces to receive protective or decorative coatings
- Levelling new and old concrete surfaces, infilling surface imperfections, filling small holes
- Filling and covering tiny cracks in precast and in-situ concrete
- Joint filling of cement and gypsum boards in combination with polymer nets
- Levelling the mosaic and stone surfaces prior to parquet installation
Advantages
- Good adhesion to prepared concrete, masonry, mosaic and stone
- A waterproof layer, Low permeability
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles and deicing salts
- Recommended for industrial areas as a fairing coat beneath protective coatings
- A good cosmetic for preparing the surface prior to decorative coatings
Instruction for Use Surface Preparation
- The substrate must be sound, firm, clean and free of oil, grease, loose particles, cement laitance, old layers of paint or other contaminants.
- Concrete and concrete block work surfaces should be adequately prepared by use of suitable mechanical means such as grit blasting, high pressure water jetting or needle gunning to produce a lightly textured surface to ensure a good key.
- Open the cracks with mechanical means
- Repair the thick removed areas with polymer modified mortars such as SA12, Sa46 or PC110
- Dampen the surface prior to priming and application
Mixing
- According to the type of work choose one of the emulsion polymers SA12 or SA46
- Dilute SA12 or SA46 with the ratio of:
Polymer: Water (1:1 to 3)
- Gradually add powder to the solution while mixing, until a homogenous and lump free paste is achieved.
- Only mix that quantity of material that can be used within an hour at 25˚c.
- In order to have the same colour as exposed concrete, mix white and grey FARCOTOP 50 with each other
Application
- Apply the primer after dampening the substrate and prior to FARCOTOP 50, by brush.
(1 part polymer+ 3 parts water (volumetric))
- The suitable working temperature is 10˚c to 35˚c.
- Apply with trowel, the maximum thickness for each layer is 2 mm and recoat if necessary with 5 hours interval.
- Avoid direct sunlight and wind at the early ages as it may increase the water evaporation and leads to cracks and lower quality. Dampen the treated surface a few hours after.
- At hot days keep the materials in cool and dry place, at high ambient temperatures use cool water.
- At cold days keep the materials at least one day before usage at room temperature and mix with warm water. It is not recommended to apply at ambient temperatures lower than 5˚c as it contains cement.
Coverage
- It depends on the substrate condition and the porosity, but generally it is about 2 to 3 kg/ m² for 2 mm thickness.
• For local usage and crack filling 0.5 to1.5 kg. The consumption of SA12 or
