Application
BK2 is suitable for fixing absorptive or non-absorptive tiles, natural stone, glass mosaics, cement mosaics, decorative bricks on walls or floor on various
Substrates Especially where high adhesion and moisture resistance are required such as old tile layers, floors with in floor heating, swimming pools, cement boards, gypsum boards. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
Advantages
- Suitable for water immersion tiling
- Easy mixing and easy to apply
- One component Mixture, just add water
- High final bond strength
Preparation of Adhesive
- Ready to use just add water
- Add 20kg of BK2 to approx 4.6 to 4.9 liters of cool and clean water and stir for 2-3 minutes to a smooth and homogeneous mixture.
- After stirring, wait for 5 minutes, and then stir the adhesive once again.
- In case of small amounts it can be mixed with gloved hands.
- The consistency of the prepared paste must be adjusted to make the highest wet adhesion and not to be deboned easily and after removing the tile, the back of the tile must be fully covered with the adhesive.
- If the consistency of the paste be too high the adhesion of tile on the substrate will be not good enough.
Installation
- BK2 is applied to the substrate using a notched trowel; choose a trowel in order to achieve the maximum coverage of the back of the tiles. In some cases it is applied by spot bonding system
- The pot life of the prepared adhesive is 2hours at 25°c
- It is not recommendable to apply adhesive on larger surfaces that it is possible to fix tiles before the skin effect appears on the adhesive surface, first spread the adhesive with the smooth side then draw the notched side through the mass.
- The tiles are Pressed / Twisted in place in the wet adhesive.
- The maximum thickness of applied BK2 is 5mm therefore for leveling and smoothing the substrate, it is recommend using modified motors with SA12 or SA46 or applying FARCOTOP 110.
- For highly absorbent substrates, wet the surface with clean water in addition dip the dusty or highly absorbent tiles in clean water prior to installation.
- As BK2 contains cement and emulsion polymers it is necessary to be applied at temperatures higher than 5°c.
- At cold condition and/or walls that the height is too high, install with at least one interval, minimum 6 hours.
- At present the dimension of the new designed tiles and their weight are high and also have the lowest absorbency, therefore for preventing sagging and highest efficiency it is needed to be applied in intervals.
Consumption
3 to 5 kg per m2 depending on the substrate condition.
Grouting
Grout the joints 1 to 3 days after setting of the adhesive.
