Uses
E-COAT80 is used for the protection of concrete and steel surfaces in the water and food industries, Industrial plant, pipe and tank lining, storage tanks, offshore and marine structures, reservoirs, sewage works, sewage containers, dye works, swimming pools, flour silos, walls and floors.
Advantages
High mechanical and chemical resistant
- 100 % solids solvent-free
- None shrink curing
- Strong resistance to abrasion
- Decorative and protective glossy coating with different colors
- Excellent adhesion to most building materials
Instruction for Use Surface Preparation
The substrate must be firm, clean, dry and free from all contamination (e.g. oil, grease, fats, chemicals, rust, paint, form release and curing membrane residues, etc.). All loose particles and excess laitance should be removed by mechanical or chemical methods. The freshly applied cementitious mixtures must be cured at least 28 days.
Mixing
The component A (Base) should be stirred and whilst continuing stirring component B (Activator) should be slowly added. Continue stirring until a homogenous mix is obtained. Mix only enough to be used within the recommended pot life. Materials nearing the end of their pot life MUST NOT be mixed with freshly mixed coating.
Application
- Do not apply when the relative humidity exceeds 85% or when the surface to be coated is less than 3°C above the dew point.
- Minimum temperature for application is 5°C.
- E-COAT80 can be applied by brush or roller.
- 2coats will be required when using brush or roller application to ensure the coating is free from holidays, thin edges, runs, snags, etc.
- If recoating cannot be carried out within 30 hours (25˚c) rough with glass paper and clean the surface thoroughly.
The concrete floor requirements for E-COAT80 Application
- Reinforced concrete with minimum 15cm thickness.
- Any joints or cracks in the concrete base where differential movement is anticipated e.g. movement joints, should be brought through to the finished surface. New concrete slabs must be allowed to cure for at least 28 days.
- It is recommended to use a plasticizer such as, FARCOMENT M50, FARCOPLAST M20 or FARCOPLAST P10-3R in order to decrease the water/cement ratio requirement therefore reducing the shrinkage, bleeding and improving the compressive and abrasion resistance.
Cleaning
Uncured material may be cleaned from application tools, etc. by using thinner. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
